| THE VILLAGES MONKSTOWN click here for Monkstown map (see www.clubi.ie/Monkstown/ for pictures etc.) The SHANDON HALL and MONKSTOWN VALLEY apartments are located between Monkstown and Blackrock Villages Monkstown is a village full of character located on the coast of Dublin Bay between the village of Blackrock and Dun Laoghaire. It derives its name from the Cistercian monks who arrived in the 12th century and built Monkstown Castle, which can still be viewed today. The village offers charming Edwardian villas, with gourmet restaurants, fashion boutiques and vintage wines. In the centre of the village is Monkstown church, built in a unique Moorish Gothic style. The Lambert Puppet Theatre is located in Monkstown as is the major Irish music centre, the Culturlann (www.comhaltas.com), where there are regular concerts, dances and "sessions" There are many shops (some late night) and restaurants in the village and an excellent SPAR supermarket, open 7-days, 8.00am-10.00pm Distances: Seapoint Beach (bathing, walks) 100M Trains (Seapoint DART Station) 200M Buses (7,7A every 10 min) 50M Monkstown Village (Shops,Restaraunts) 200M Blackrock Village (Dept.stores) 250M City Centre (20 Mins on DART) 10KM Dublin Airport (40/50 mins in Taxi ) 15KM Car Ferry,Dun Laoghaire (5 Mins in Taxi ) 1.5KM Transport: The DART is a wonderful way to reach the city centre. Trains from Seapoint Station serve : Monkstown Valley (200m) Shandon Hall (150m) Brooklawn Wood (400m) Trains run every 15 mins and pass along the scenic Dublin Bay. They arrive at Pearse St. Tara St. and Amiens St(Connolly) stations all too soon. Buses 7,7a also run regularly and can be caught all along the Monkstown Road for the city centre or Dun Laoghaire. See www.dublinbus.ie For those enjoying Dublin's night life, late buses on Nightlink Bus "7N" are available. Buses depart from Stephens Green, near the top of Grafton Street every half hour until 3-4 am and pass along the Monkstown Road. BLACKROCK click here for Blackrock map BLACKROCK, once the home of Ireland's most famous writer, James Joyce, is a fashionable affluent village, with a colourful mix of chic boutiques, cafes, pubs, bookshops and library. Blackrock comes alive in the evening with thriving pubs, both traditional and modern, which cater to a variety of tastes and ages. Blackrock has two large shopping centres and offers superb shopping options. DONNYBROOK click here for Donnybrook map HERBERT PARK MEWS is about 150m from Donnybrook Village and 10 minutes walk to Ballsbridge across the Park. Donnybrook is a lively village with many shops, cafes, pubs and sports facilities. Herbert Park is a lovely wooded park with tennis, playgrounds and picnic areas. It is built around the famous harbour with its marina, car ferry, sailing clubs and wonderful sea walks. It has two shopping centres, cinema, theatre and a lovely park.
